Job Objective: Plant Engineer to provide process assistance to
production and implement capital projects. The position would be based
in PP.
- Execute numerous projects including scope definition, design,
procurement, budget control, construction, start-up, training, and
documentation.
- Troubleshoot and design mechanical/electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic
systems in plant
- Provide mechanical engineering guidance to maintenance department,
including assistance optimizing the existing preventative maintenance
programs.
- Troubleshoot plant problems, identify failure modes and root causes,
implement corrective actions including training, documentation, and PM
program development.
- Provide focus and leadership for reliability and energy efficiency
efforts around utilities, motors, incinerators, pumps, material handling
equipment, and dust collection systems.
- Coordinate plant CAPEX per approved divisional procedures
- Design and execute projects implementing EHS policies (such as addition
of rails, guarding, ladders, dust abatement, etc)
- Design and execute projects implementing recommendations from PHA and
safety studies.
- Manage on site contractors
- Responsible for SOX compliance with respect to equipment that measures
inventory
Education/Qualifications:
- Experience in a plant
engineering role in the chemical or an allied industry.
- Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree or significant relevant
experience.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time. Responsible for all
aspects of project definition, evaluation, design, budgeting, and
execution. For this reason, the individual should have project
engineering skills in addition to technical skills. Projects will
include not only mechanical design projects but also those associated
with utility systems, material handling, structural, and process piping.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to use multiple computer applications, including databases,
spreadsheets, word-processing, project management, presentations, and
relevant technical software.
- Ability to communicate (through sketch or CAD drawing) designs to
fabricator for construction.
- Ability to work with others in a team approach to solving problems,
respecting and involving input from all levels of Hexion employees and
resources.
- Experience in working with, and managing fabrication and construction
contractors.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of engineering disciplines
including electrical, civil, environmental and chemical.
- Some appreciation and experience with applicable codes and regulations
(ASME, OSHA, etc.)
- Experience in working with utility systems such as compressed air,
nitrogen, hot oil, steam, and cooling tower water
- Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
Education & Experience
BS in Engineering and 5-10 yrs exp.
